    Canon Character Section:
    History: right here

    Personality:
Jeremy Gilbert is a teenager who has experienced incredible amounts of loss. This loss has shaped him in the last few years of his life in powerful ways. Immediately after his parents die, Jeremy tailspins into becoming a druggie (as well as a drug provider) and a bad student who withdraws even further inside of himself and stops drawing. When Vicki died, the grief was overwhelming in its hopelessness and how he nearly drowned in it that night. He he was all set for another tailspin when he was compelled by Damon Salvatore by request of his sister.

Jeremy has had his agency removed from him and his mind messed with on multiple occasions. The compulsion only took the memories but didn't take the pain from him. It's pain that he still lives with without remembering the details. Discovering the truth about that compulsion, it drives a painful, angry wedge between him and his sister who were close especially before their parents died but who fell further apart through their individual grief. Through their lives both in Mystic Falls and in Chicago especially, that wedge has been erased, and they are closer than ever.

Not only has he experienced the loss of those he loves, Jeremy has died twice himself, which also changed him in a deeply, irreversible way. He has struggled with feeling like he should have stayed dead, like he was meant to die. It has taken him time and growth to come to terms with dying both of the times that he has. While he no longer feels like he should have stayed dead, he has a much deeper understanding of death than the average person.

Jeremy has always been a loner. Even before the loss of his parents, he was the quiet artist who was a relatively good student but didn't necessarily have many friends (certainly not deep ones since none of them are around after the loss of his parents). It's actually, frequently commented on that he doesn't have friends. Jeremy has always found it difficult to connect to most people and has always been more of a misfit, someone that doesn't really fit in. He has a hard time with school or jobs or ordinary, ever day life, because he knows there are monsters out there that go bump in the night. It is a far bigger concern for him than the concerns most people his age have had. Jeremy tends to connect more to the misfits in the crowd and to those that other people might write off as being weird or strange. To him, strange is a compliment.

Despite this loner-ness, Jeremy can be very understanding and caring when it comes to other people especially when it comes to loss and grief. He has experienced that so intensely himself that it is easier for him to connect to someone that has felt loss of there own. Tyler and Jeremy had a tumultuous relationship, getting into fights frequently in their anger. When Tyler lost his father though, Jeremy is there for him without question or hesitation despite their history of fighting with each other. It doesn't matter, because Jeremy cares. He doesn't want people to get hurt.

Jeremy is extremely intense under the surface (and sometimes boiling right over the surface). He will lash out if he is angry either violently or with words. Jeremy used to get into fights all of the time. When he is tail spinning or especially upset, he can still react in that violent way, throwing himself into a situation recklessly without any thought to his own health. Jeremy fights hard with everything that he has for the people that he cares about. He has a lot of sass in him, and he has a lot of sadness too. There's grief and guilt, and there is pain inside of him. He also loves intensely. In Chicago with Sarah, with restoring his relationship with his sister and gaining a home there, he has become happy.

Powerlessness is a feeling Jeremy has struggled deeply with since realizing vampires existed, since experiencing all of this loss. He has felt it to such a degree that it has shaped his choices. Jeremy has been unable to stop so many people in his life from dying within a short period of time. He will fight hard with everything that he has and more to keep from losing anyone else. It's a reason why he chooses in Chicago to become a hunter, because he wants to gain a feeling of having power and strength. It helps him make choices where he can protect the people that he loves and himself. He works out regularly to keep as in shape as possible. He trains with anyone who will teach him so he can be as good as possible. Jeremy is incredibly protective of the people that he loves. Even when he has no training at all, he faces Katherine in the tomb so he can get the moonstone, walking directly inside and putting her out of commission, which is proof that Jeremy has natural talent for hunting long before he ever picks up a crossbow.

Despite everything that he has been through and how much older he can be, Jeremy is still, in some very important ways, the average teenage boy. He loves having sex with his girlfriend. He loves video games and comic book characters (His favorite superhero is Thor). He loves food and can eat a ridiculous amount of it. Bacon cheeseburgers and pizza are his absolute favorites but he is not really picky when it comes to food (though he'll avoid salads when at all possible). Jeremy likes to listen to indie music, and he enjoys drawing and painting and art. He thinks he is older than he is and gets offended when someone refers to him as a kid. He has plenty of sass and attitude to dispense. Also, he can have a bit of a temper that flares up when provoked... or even when it's not provoked.

Powers/Abilities: Jeremy doesn't know he has this ability, but he is a TVD!Supernatural Hunter. It's in his blood so I figure he doesn't have to be in Mystic Falls for it to activate it. However, he doesn't have the tattoo yet even to activate it. I feel like canon isn't completely clear on how to make that tattoo appear, because he killed someone in canon before the person that he killed where the tattoo appeared on his hand afterward. Maybe it can be activated via agentmas. Cause it'd be fun to play with in this setting and actually expand upon it but correct me if I'm wrong about the powers. TVD is super inconsistent with it, using it as the reason that he died permanently and yet not letting him keep them so he could get his ass kicked by Damon and his pal in that one episode. Ahem.

The powers include super strength, super speed, being able to tell who is a vampire, and immune to compulsion. The tattoo also comes with an undeniable urge to fight/kill vampires.

Sometimes he sees ghosts. Again with the TVD inconsistencies when it comes to his powers and how they work though.

In BTR, he gained the power to touch an object and see the memory of the person that owned it before. He could feel what they were feeling, hear the thoughts they were thinking at the time of the memory. He has started to learn to control when it happens and when it doesn't, but he can't really control what memory he will experience.

Appearance: Tall and muscular with dark hair, Jeremy works out a lot in order to be as good at hunting as he possibly can be. His pb is Steven R. McQueen.

How has your character changed from their canon self? Jeremy has grown and matured greatly from his time in game. He was there for almost two years with his sister far away from Mystic Falls and the events that would take place there. They built a life for themselves in Chicago. They had a stable, loving home again with two adults who looked out for them, guided them, and loved and cared about them. Jeremy was able to graduate from high school and start to take college courses. He started to think about a real future for the first time since their parents died. He wanted a future for himself with the woman that he loves. Jeremy became even closer to his sister. He, also, officially told Elena that he forgave her for telling Damon to compel him to forget about Vickie's death.

The biggest influence for Jeremy in Chicago was his girlfriend Sarah Monroe. He met her and connected to her deeply, which was rare for him. They got to know each other. They fell in love with each other. She helped him with the guilt that he has been carrying. She helped him to see himself in a more positive light than he ever has before and to gain self worth that had been sorely lacking. The relationship is so wholly positive and important to him, and Sarah is someone that Jeremy could not live without. They are very codependent and connected. They're best friends as well as boyfriend and girlfriend. He has talked to her about all of the trauma and pain in his life, and he has heard about her own. They share it and carry it together. With her, Jeremy has been able to hope and want for a future. She is an angel of death so he does all he can to find a way to help her with that. He wants to help her find a way to cure it so she can be free of that Calling and what it takes from her.

Chicago wasn't all positive though. There were disasters and monsters. They learned that the fact that Elena was a doppleganger meant something in this universe too, and she would be captured if they didn't keep it a secret and try to get a one-up on the people after her. There were moments in Chicago when everyone lost their agency, forced to write their deepest secrets and thoughts for all to see. Jeremy gained a supernatural ability that let him see memories of the dead, and there were painful memories related to Sarah that changed him.

Callings existed in the city. Jeremy took care of Sarah as she struggled with her own. He is incredibly protective of her. Jeremy did what he could but there was that deep understanding that he couldn't stop the Calling from taking from her as it did. There was a powerlessness born from that, and he learned just how dangerous it was for her to have this Calling and the statistics. He saw certain memories due to his Rift given ability that stay with him still because of how terrible they were.

Chicago was filled with adventures and disasters on a much larger scale than Mystic Falls. In the wake of those disasters, Jeremy learned how to handle himself in the midst of chaos. He reached out to help others when he could. He, also, made the incredibly important decision to become a hunter but his own version of being a hunter instead of the type that his father and uncle were. Jeremy did not kill any supernatural being on sight. He learned how to fight and how to hunt. He trained in how to use a crossbow and other weapons, and Jeremy joined a group that regularly patroled Chicago to protect its streets from the monsters that frequently fell into it. This decision drove a quick, painful wedge between him and his sister.

Are they gaining any abilities from their time in game? Did the game setting take something from them? He gained the ability to touch an object and see a memory from the point of view of the person that owned/owns that object. This ability helped him to have the feelings of the person that had the memories too so it's like he is there.
